Plot[]
You're scent-sational! A scheming chemist douses the Daily Planet staff with attraction-inducing perfume. The results: Jimmy pursues a model, Perry White falls for the cleaning woman, and Lois has the hots for Clark.
Plot Summary[]
Lex Luthor cuts the funding of Miranda's research, a chemist who is in love with him and they were ex-lovers. To prove to Lex that he was wrong and her research is valid, she uses her new perfume formula and sprays the staff of the Daily Planet that includes a chemical that removes all the sexual inhibition. She takes advantage of the buzz caused by a party fashion being held there and parades unnoticed.
Everyone in the Daily Planet start acting weird and crazy in love: Lois acts extremely passionate for Clark; Perry White chases a Latina cleaning lady; Jimmy chases one of the models, and Cat Grant "pounces" on an unsuspecting Phil, a guy who showed up to fix a copy machine.
Clark is the only one not affected by the chemical. With Lois hitting on him, Clark tries to find out what caused this madness. When the effect of the chemical wears off, Lois and Clark discover that the perfume Miranda sprayed them with contains specific pheromones which lead them to act the way they did.
The perfume lasts for 48 hours, and after that, everyone returns to normal, realizing how foolishly and embarrassingly they acted. Perry is decked by the husband of the cleaning lady and learns that Alice has requested a trial separation. Everyone but Cat, who is shown still in the copy room, breaking again the copy machine as to keep a worn out Phil from getting out .
Meanwhile, Miranda plans to spray the whole town with an advanced formula of the perfume that will cause permanent damage to people. Lex who believes Miranda will carry out her threat, asks Superman's help to stop her before it is too late. Superman manages to stop Miranda in time and pretends to be affected by the pheromones so Lois can kiss him, much to Lex's disgust.
Later, Lex admits that he has now fallen in love with Lois and he now sees the Man of Steel as a rival for her affections.
Everyone makes amends in the end: Perry no longer will be sued by the cleaning lady and gets an apology after her husband learns the truth about the perfume. Perry still thinks his marriage is over, but Lois convinces Perry to show his feelings for Alice by treating her like royalty. April, the model, kisses Jimmy in front of the entire staff, and a confused Cat claims that she wasn't sprayed by the perfume (even though the audience saw that she and Phil spent three straight days isolated in the copy room). Later, when Lois tried to deny her attraction for Clark, he pretends he believes her and keeps smiling.

Trivia[]
- Clark mentions to Perry that "Elvis never cheated on Priscilla", when in reality, the singer Elvis Presley indeed cheated on Priscila, numerous times.
- The title is a reference to the Raymond Chandler novel Farewell, My Lovely.
- The script contains some additional hints about what was going on in the copy room, but they were removed in the final edit of the episode. For example, at the beginning of Day 02, Jimmy mentions that Cat is in the copy room, to which Lois asks "Still?". There should have been another brief shot of the copy room door with the same noises that Clark heard the day before. This would explain how Cat and Phil were still wearing the same (wrinkled) clothes on Day 03.
- Also about the script, when Phil finally fixes the copy machine, he should have reacted with disappointment, just like Cat (meaning that the "party" is over). However, in the episode, Phil is shown sighing with relief when the machine works (probably worn out after two days of doing "that"), but when Cat breaks the machine again, his reaction is almost panicked as if he realized that he won't be getting away any time soon.
