The people of Metropolis have spoken and now they're gonna suffer that same way I am!—Stanley Gables, Resurrection
Stanley Gables was a villain in the series.
He was an insane, embittered former scientist from S.T.A.R. Labs who wanted revenge on all of Metropolis for his contraction to a mortal virus that was eating away at his flesh.
Personality[]
Gables was an embittered, selfish and callous man who wouldn't take responsibility for his own actions, even though what happened to him was clearly his own fault.
He only cared about his own pain and was willing to let innocent people die to share the same fate.
History[]
Gables was a scientist and chemist at S.T.A.R. Labs who wanted to create an experiment involving a Alpha Virus. The owners of the labs saw the experiment as too dangerous and forbade him permission to do it. Gables however performed it anyway, foolishly believing that people never achieved greatness by playing by the rules.
The experiment went wrong and cost the lives of four technicians, while Gables himself after over exposure was infected with the virus, which began slowing eating away at the flesh of his body.
S.T.A.R. Labs was outraged by Gables' actions and fired him. He issued a lawsuit in court, declaring himself the victim but the jury refused his plea, agreeing with his former employers that what happened to him was his own fault, so he swore revenge not only on S.T.A.R. Labs but the whole of Metropolis.
Season 2[]
As part of his plan, he invented a pill known as "Resurrection", a pill that temporarily shut down the senses in the human body. Gables decided to use on dangerous convicts from prisons to help him break into S.T.A.R. Labs to steal the same Alpha Virus that he would use to kill all of Metropolis. His first convict was explosives expert Sean MaCarthy who took the pill given to him by Gables' assistant Albie Swinson whilst in prison and was then buried in a cemetery in a certain site where his casket was moved in an underground tunnel which led to Gables' house.
D.A Mayson Drake had been assigned to that particular case and had one of Gables' Resurrection pills in her possession as evidence. However Gables soon found out she was onto him and had her murdered by placing a bomb in her car. He then hired another convict who specialized in security systems named Diego Martinez to search the remains of Mayson's car from the police impound but ran away from the police before he finished.
While Mayson's funeral was taking place, Gables and Albie drove by to check on Martinez who had just been given a dose of the pill and was in a casket about to be buried. However sounds began to be heard and it attracted the attention of Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane who got the fright of her life when she looked inside to see Martinez stirring inside. While she rushed to get her partner Clark Kent, Albie quickly went over to Martinez's casket and gave him another dose of the pill and rushed back to where Gables was waiting explaining that it was the mistake in the original dosage. Gables declared that if "Resurrection" was to succeed nothing else should go wrong.
Meanwhile Clark, Lois and DEA agent Dan Scardino were working together to find out the real motive behind Mayson's death and her last word that she said to Clark before her death which was "Resurrection". After finding out that there was a file in Mayson's office that contained a file about MaCarthy that linked to him, Gables sent Albie and his men to remove any evidence from MaCarthy's house including letters that he had sent to his mom that had mentions of his supposed death.
However Superman intervened and also stopped a bomb that had been implanted under the house. Despite the setback and now knowing that Lois and Clark were onto him, Gables was still determined to put his plan into effect and called MaCarthy and Martinez to discuss its next step in breaking into S.T.A.R. Labs to steal the Alpha Virus. All they needed was one more convict; MaCarthy's cellmate Big Buster Williams who had dwarfism but was just perfect to go through the vents which led to where the virus was kept. Albie by this time was uncomfortable by the harshness of Gables' plan and asked if there was any other way, but Gables angrily declared that nobody had cared about him, so he didn't care about them.
Meanwhile Lois and Clark had found out about Martinez searching Mayson's car and decided to go and look for themselves, eventually finding the pill.
Gables sent Albie to the prison to give Williams a dose of the pill. As expected the pill did its job and Williams was taken away and scheduled to be buried. However Albie could no longer be part of his Gables' insane plan and called Lois who had been investigating with Clark at the prison and had witnessed Williams' supposed death. They arranged to meet at Gables' chosen burial site at the cemetery. Suspecting that Albie would betray him, Gables had installed a bugging device to Albie's phone and had now overheard the conversation so he captured him and sent an assassin to murder Lois.
Lois meanwhile managed to escape the assassin but wound up accidently being in Williams' casket that was now being transferred to Gables' house. Gables then had her tied up and gagged in the same way as Albie and placed next to him while he and the three crooks left for S.T.A.R. Labs to begin their plan. However Lois and Albie were rescued by Clark and Scardino and together they all left to stop Gables.
After successfully gaining the vial containing the Alpha Virus, Gables decided he would release it into the atmosphere from top of the same building which caused his pain. Superman suddenly arrived and MaCarthy, Martinez and Williams fled.
Gables was then berated by the Man of Steel for Mayson's murder and his willingness to murder innocent people for his own foolish mistakes. Gables shook off the lecture and smashed the vial on the ground, releasing its contents. Suddenly to his horror, Superman used his super breath to create a cyclone to absorb the virus and stabilize it into a icicle spear form. Gables then watched in dismay as the Man of Steel then hurled it into space where it would do no harm. He was then captured.
Meanwhile the three crooks were all captured by Lois, Scardino and Albie. All four were imprisoned after this and Albie was presumably pardoned for his help in stopping his former boss.
